Default Do you really need a specialist?

There is a widely-held opinion that, particularly in web design, we should specialise. It creates greater focus and improves awareness of a particular function. But how does it serve the client? Particularly in the smaller sector, businesses are confused by the array of web services, and need someone who understands the whole process rather than focussing on one.

I've toyed with the idea of specialising, but can't honestly say it would benefit our clients. It would increase their costs, make communication more fragile and alienate us from emerging markets.

So I am firmly adhering with my 'scope' as a generalist and have written about it in my latest blog at Do you really want a specialist? | Canary Dwarf, Moray's web design specialists
