Email on the move

Hi All,

Most evenings when I get home and check my emails I have a quite a few to trawl through to get to the ones that need answering. I tend to have time during the day when I'm out and about which could be better utilised. With this in mind I'm looking for a phone/PDA/Blackberry option that'll allow me to answer emails. Anyone know of any deals on at the moment or have any suggestions as to a solution?

I'm a big fan of the Blackberry Brian so that would certainly be my preferred option. They push the email to you where as most other solutions will have to be forced to pull. If you're contract is up you will easy get an upgrade to a Blackberry for free. It's likely that you will have to take out a contract of some sort as i'm not aware of any pay as you go Blackberry options. Most providers charge an additional rental charge per month for having Blackberry functionality.

For me the Blackberry wins hands down in a number of ways. They have fantastic battery life ( I charge mines twice a week and I am a heavy user) and they also just work, you dont tend to have to many issues. The fact it's a phone as well will avoid you having to have another device.

I'm sure some of the others will have different opinions and i'll happily show you how it all works when we come up in a few weeks if you like.

After a bit of investigation Barry I'm leaning towards the Blackberry. I've had a contract phone with Vodafone for years now so I'll give them a try and see what they come up with.

I will give a huge second for Blackberry! I have a Blackberry Curve with built in GPS and Sat Nav. It is everything I could need in one device, and as Barry says - they do exactly as they are supposed to, and have an excellent battery life.

To be a different voice I've currently got a Nokia e61i and use the built in pull service (scheduled to pick up every 30 minutes between 8am and 6pm) via my Vodafone contract.

I haven't used a blackberry for a while now but that thumb wheel drove me nuts!!!

You dont actually get thumb wheels on the newer blackberries. I was actually a big fan of them and it took me a fair bit of time to get used to the centre button. You are right though there are other options and I think it's wise to take a few into consideration

Another vote for the Blackberry Curve, the GPS is really useful and the email system is very easy to set up. I also sync my calendar with my google calendar automatically, so you don't ever need to dock the Curve with your PC if you don't want to.

OK, I opted for a Blackberry. I called my provider to ask about deals as I've been a pay monthly customer since the mid 90's. The deals they had weren't very good so I had a look around, found a better deal and called my provider for my PAC code so I could transfer my number.

Roll forward a couple of weeks and I get a phone call from my provider asking why I'm moving. After I explained, she gave me a fantastic deal to keep my business with them. I did ask why the first person I talked to a couple of weeks ago couldn't offer me the same deal but didn't get very far. Anyway, the upshot is, I've got what I wanted for a lot less than I thought. Result.

I use my trusty old nokia N95 8GB....all the features under the sun, GPS, SatNav, MP3, Mobile Internet, Pull E-Mail is only every half an hour but I find that is quick enough, although I did consider a blackberry for while I ended up sticking with my N95
