I maximise each window I'm afraid mate

I got the monitor for the same reason as you, but for some reason, it just seems nicer to have a browser or word document open full screen....

I might actually get a smaller monitor to do what you've got just now.

It's all getting a bit mad when we're 'worrying' if a 28" monitor is going to provide enough desktop space, the 'massive' 40" back projection set I bought about five years ago now stands at the foot of my bed ( i.e viewing distance 6' 6"!) and the 42" LCD that hangs on the chimney breast is beginning to look a wee bit on the small side....

You should just have had done with it Scott and got three of those 28 inchers to do a straight swap....

I moved my HD 42" from my living room to a new playroom for the kids and then bought an LG 60" for £1500 which is a bargain for such a big telly, I was just remembering this morning selling an old computer (a few years ago) for £300 and the guy saying he was mainly buying it for the 17" TFT that came with it how times, prices and technology changes so damn quick.

Not sure I'd have gone for an LG. And isn't their 60" model a plasma?? My back projection set is an LG and the build quality is terrible. Being a qualified AV engineer I can do some repairs myself. But I've had issues I shouldn't have had with the power supply being built from components that are just too close to their operating limits... The set was 'relatively' cheap at the time, and at the top end of the LG range; but I can see why it was such a 'bargain. and suspect most of those sets will be reaching the 'B.E.R.' stage by now....

The current Sony 52" lcd at about £1500 is a far better buy both in terms of picture quality and probably longevity...

The real problem to my mind though is the lack of HD sources. Where I am I can get neither Sky (trees!) nor cable. The only HD source I have is my blu-ray player (or I guess some download material) and THAT mainly gets used to test HD footage I've shot for clients! I often find myself looking at the PAL (i.e. ordinary DVD) versions of my programmes, starting to beat myself up over them then switching to a broadcast which looks worse! And the simple truth is that standard definition wasn't designed for screens above 26"

Now as soon as they start selling HD freeview boxes.....

Anyway I digress, and to get back on-topic here's yet another picture of my desk...

You can see it poking out just under the rubble....

HERE!

Taking a cue from Heather, points to note: BIG glass of watter due to slight hangover, TVR shaped mouse with blue lighty-up headlights, and PG tips 'moonkie' sitting in genuine 1984 Sadler Morris Minor desk tidy....

See, she's no the only culchurret wan roon here!

I found this quite amusing.... And joined and posted my desk!

Maybe it's the film maker in me; the storyteller. But I find these tiny glimpses into people's lives fascinating. The chaos or non chaos. The iconography carefully placed or accidentally left... The personal statements conscious or not conscious...

And the wonder what, in 200 years time when someone happens upon these fragments of cyberspace, will they make of these tiny bits of social history.....
