It's another example of the sort of sales technique that was reflected upon in an (err ahem...) 'other' thread...... It's an unnecessary intrusion upon people's personal space unless. Unnecessary that is unless the project is virtually unsellable by other means....

In all seriousness I've tried creating an elevator pitch and it just sounds daft. I'm not like that and for me delivering a well rehearsed pitch is not what I'm about. I'd just be honest and tell him who I was and what I did and let my personality and honesty be the pitch.

Never one for flim-flam or b.s.

Me either. I've been at several networking events where I've been quite happily chatting away to someone when one of the MVT crowd barged their way into the conversation and within three seconds had launched into a high-pressure sales pitch. Didn't do his reputation any good at all...

Fancy some coaching? I'm pretty good - let's do a free sample session.

Too flowery?

.....How can I put this mate???

If it were Marcella Puppini, Michelle Yeo or Vanessa Mae in the lift I might be tempted to consider a similar approach... (then again; I'd probably just turn bright red and shuffle about uncomfortably) But er.... Big Al's just not my type...

Flowery.... Hmmmm yes, that's one way of putting it.

Not sure what you're saying TFGtv. Who's Big Al?

I just meant I try to be clear and direct. I also try to listen to people and not have some prepared pitch.

I'm just pulling your leg mate....

The pitch is meant to be to Alan Sugar....

Personally I wouldn't start a business pitch to anyone off with "fancy some...."

D'oh!

Pardon me for allowing my leg to come off in your hand.

Note to self: sometimes the clue is in the thread...
