Smile Banking in Edinburgh, Hi!

Hi everybody,
I am a Business Development Manager for RBS, would love to meet (wrong forum?? lol).
Looking to build my network of contacts in Edinburgh and the Borders, to find business people who do not bank with us already and find out why.

Elaine

Welcome to the forums Elaine. I'm sure you'll get a lot of input from the members here as to why they don't bank with RBS. I currently do but I will be shifting as soon as I get my accounts back from my accountant.

Hello Elaine,

Welcome to the forum. I am sure there will be a lot of interest in you (oh wrong forum as again...) with you being in banking.

Look forward to reading your post (and answering the banking questions.

Kind regards

Hi Elaine,

Welcome to the forums!

I used to bank with Barclays (until my free 18months was over), and then moved to Abbey (because of the free banking for life).

Hi Stugster, thanks for the welcome.

Is it just the "free" banking that gets you to move then?
How about interest on your account? Couldn't you potentially make more in interest that you would have paid in service charge?
Does your bank manager proactively introduce you to new customers/contacts to help your business grow?

For a new start, interest isn't the key issue, it's knowing that extra charges for your banking aren't going to creep up and hit your cash flow.

No, my bank manager definitely doesn't go to any effort to introduce new business, in fact, I'm not even sure I have one.

At Abbey, the interest received on the reserve account is this:

Always worth speaking to someone at all the banks as they don't always publish all the rates and sometimes can come up with a taylored solution to your issues.
Let me know if you would like to speak to a business manager and I can set it up, they might even take you for a free coffee! lol

I'm the same as Stu here. The first communication I've had from my Business Relationship Manager was a letter a couple of weeks ago to tell me she is still in the land of the living. Up until then I had no idea what had happened to her. I've had no approach from either her or my Branch Manager to introduce new business.

Hello and welcome to the group Elaine.

I'm the same as Stu here. A happy Abbey customer for exactly the same reasons.

Please, no more lol's! We have emoticons for that sort of stuff!
