Hi, new eco-courier in Edinburgh
Hi,
my name is Murray and i have just founded The Village Trike, a new eco-courier and delivery service that covers central Edinburgh. We are using custom built trikes (think a rickshaw with a box on the back instead of a seat) to make deliveries.
I am glad to have found this forum as it seems to have plenty of good ideas for operating in Scotland, especially with regards marketing and the internet.
Hopefully i will become a regular contributor on here and look forward to many interesting discussions.
It would be great if you could check out my website and tell me what you think:
The Village Trike
Regards,
Murray.

Nice idea Murray. I'm in Edinburgh quite a bit, I'll look out for your trikes.
Oh and welcome to the forums.

Hi Murray,
Welcome to the forums!
I love that business model, it's absolutely fantastic!
I went onto your site and seen the potential for advertising, but the Media Pack PDF file couldn't be found.

Hi Murray,
Welcome, and good luck with your business. If your customer service is as good as your website, you're off to a good start.
I've always thought that if the bottom ever fell out of the software business, I'd get a job as a bike courier. But when I think of your guys hauling a 250kg payload up the Mound, sitting behind a desk all day doesn't seem so bad after all.

Re: Hi, new eco-courier in Edinburgh
Thanks for the welcome! This seems like a really valuable resource, especially for those of us (me) who are just starting out. None of my friends have their own business so it will be good to have a place to go to pick some brains!

I like that it has relatively low fixed costs, and the fact that there is a sort of modular increase in cost proportionate to income. I run it from home so there is no huge premises costs or anything and wheni grow i can just get new trikes.

I know, my webdesigner is away on holiday so i have to wait a wee while to get that sorted.

Lol, i couldn't agree more. Fortunately they guys i'm using for this view cycling as a hobbie and get some sort of twisted pleasure from it. There is something to be said for working outside though, on days like this anyway!

Re: Hi, new eco-courier in Edinburgh
Hi Murray,
Welcome to the forum, I am pretty new myself and find it a fantastic place to share ideas and business experiences.
I echo what the other guys have said, the website looks great and it is a fantastic idea. We will certainly bear you in mind in the future and it seems a great way to advertise your business in and around edinburgh.
Thanks also for you advice already on another thread I have posted. I look forward to speaking with you further.
Murray

Re: Hi, new eco-courier in Edinburgh
Hi Murray,
Welcome to the forum, i'll have a wee glance over your site later on. Hopefully the weather will pick up a little bit for all the 'trike' riders! Wouldn't want to be doing it personally in the Autumn / Winter myself, but as you say there are some people who get a twisted kick out this kind of thing.
You've came to the right place if your looking for help with any problems you may experience.
Kind Regards
Neil

Re: Hi, new eco-courier in Edinburgh
Hi Murray,
Nice to have you on SBF!
Really like the idea and totally see the appeal of advertising on these trikes if they are all around Edinburgh all day. I would think it's also a business people would gladly associate themselves with given the eco-friendly theme.
I wish you all the best with it and hope that you'lluse and contribute to the forums as the business grows
