I have just received details of GRANTnet from a mailing list I am subscribed to and thought it might be of interest to SBFers. It promises to help identify suitable funding for small businesses, but I haven't had time to check it out myself yet.
I subscribe to Grantfinder -the overall umbrella that includes Grantnet -for my fundraising business. I find it very good for new sources of grants coming on stream -particularly European and Central Govt. funding -lots for social enterprises just now. I don't find the search capabilities as good as some other funding sites.
For small businesses the best way to access most of these funds is through your local business Gateway or Scottish Enterprise.
Another good site that sends out regular bulletins of funds -both voluntary sector and business is J4b.co.uk
I have to say regarding BG and Scottish Enterprise that they seem to be heavily weighted towards film-makers and tech companies respectively. Which is unfortunate for the majority of businesses who are outside these sectors.
One organisation which I'm hugely impressed by is PSYBT (Prince's Trust in Scotland), if you're under 25 it really is a fantastic aid for funds and resources.
You can also use J4Bgrants. This has a free service to identify suitable grants but charges you for more detailed information. You can use either option and supplement them with free Google searches.
