If RBS was an ordinary business...
Rant time now....
It has been 3 months since I set up an account with RBS...I am still waiting for then to send me my cards, my internet banking set up....and just now while I type this thread....I am trying to phone the branch....and it ringing out...that's 2 minutes now.
Also my "branch manager" has left...I personally think he has taken all my details with him!!!
If this was a business, most people would have gone elsewhere,....but I just can't face the hassle of changing banks again.
They really do have you by the beedoobees sometimes.
Disgruntled of Edinburgh!!!
Coming up for 5 minutes of ringing them....I hope it's annoying their staff!!

Re: If RBS was an ordinary business...
Changing banks isn't as difficult as you might think!
I recently changed from Barclays to Abbey and they took care of absolutely everything!
Once my most recent invoices were paid, I sent an email to my business clients informing them of my new bank details, and a polite reminder that failing to pay into the new bank account would be failure of paying the invoice.
Abbey also have a 24/7 cheque/cash paying in facility on their ATM Machines... very very convenient for when you can't get parked to pay in a wad of cheques/cash!
I just pull up outside at 10.30pm on a Friday and pay it all in... errr... I mean a Tuesday, or a Wednesday, or maybe a Thursday, but certainly not 10.30! (Hah, anyone trying to jump me for the cash is completely flustered now!)

Re: If RBS was an ordinary business...
AMEN Gordon!! I'm so glad someone is going through the same thing, honestly, RBS has been the most difficult 'thing' we have had to deal with in the months of trading so far.
Tollcross branch per chance?!
So, we tried to open an account in January, filled out forms and gave in copies of passports etc... 2 weeks later chased it up.. they'd lost all the info. OK, so we did it again, we NEEDED to open an account urgently otherwise we'd miss the Business Gateway

Tell us about it:
7 months setting up our account (still not set up completely)
2 months waiting on a response to an email (chased up several times and escalated it)
2 bank managers tried and both turned out to be unreachable
Arrrrgggggg!

Sounds like RBS isn't the way to go.

I've totally given up on trying to get online access to our RBS account. We've sent the forms in FIVE times... If only they routinely posted cheques back to us it would be back to banking 1984 style!
Our account is slow; relative few transactions for relatively large amounts. I'm just glad I'm not running a shop or something where a bank run's a daily thing....

Oh I have way to go then, Matt....I am only on number TWO
My account manager is getting irked with me....as I phone in everyday....as I said, 'Well don't lose the forms and I can get on'.
To be fair to RBS I think they are pretty much the same as all the others, the saving grace for me, is the fact I have a account manager I can speak to...as we turnover less that £1 million. The other won't entertain it.
