This event is designed for those facing redundancy and I thought it might be of some interest. I have of course suggested that the event organiser join SBF!
More and more victims of redundancy are turning to coaches to transform their bleak situation into an opportunity.
As credit crunch-stricken companies continue to make redundancies throughout Scotland and the UK, a Perth life and business coach has seen a huge increase in inquiries on how to turn negatives into positives.
Elements Coaching and Development offers a service to businesses and individuals seeking direction, motivation and clarity. Clients range from private individuals looking to change direction to companies seeking coaching for their staff.
In recognition of the recent upsurge of interest in its services, the company is holding the first of a series of events to tackle low self-esteem and confidence issues.
The ‘Start Again’ event in Edinburgh on Thursday 6 November 2008 is specifically targeted at those who have been made redundant, who are facing redundancy in the near future, or whose family members have been made redundant. Future events will be tailored at other societal groups including confidence-zapped mothers returning to work after a prolonged period at home.
Managing Director of Elements Margaret Nicoll said, “There’s a huge amount of advice out there on dealing with the financial and legal aspects of redundancy but very little on tackling the emotional and mental repercussions of such a life-changing event. In that very British way, people think they should ‘just get on with it’ but this can be extremely hard. We’re helping people boost their self-confidence and tackle negative emotions head on, giving them the drive and motivation to update their CV, retrain, apply for jobs or perhaps pinpoint a completely new direction in life. Although it’s a terrifying prospect, being made redundant can be extremely empowering as it forces us to re-evaluate our professional and personal lives in a way that we rarely do while plodding along in our everyday jobs.”
The one-day event, run in association with GVL Coaching, will be held at The Melting Pot, Rose Street, Edinburgh, EH2 2PR.
